*I realize that this table is tiny, feel free to suggest places in the comments and I’ll check them out next time I’m there.*
Restaurant | Neighbourhood | Address | Type of Food | $ | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Brasserie Cognac | Central Park | 1740 Broadway | French | $$ | Found this place by accident with a unbearably hangry girlfriend, and it turned out to be pretty good. The fresh rolls added a nice touch to the whole meal. |
Ladurée | Central Park | 864 Madison Ave | Macaron | $$ | Apparently a macaron mecca, but honestly, I've had better. Go to Macaron Parlour instead. |
Big Gay Ice Cream Shop | East Village | E 7th St | Ice Cream | $ | Lives up to the hype, they have really good ice cream. Great place to go after Crif Dogs. Long Line, but it moves fast. They also have an ice cream truck you can catch occasionally if you check their twitter feed. |
Macaron Parlour | East Village | 111 St Marks Pl | Macaron and other sweets | $ | Surprisingly good Macaron, with all sorts of creative flavours. Found it when walking to Crif Dogs. |
Crif Dogs & Please Don't Tell | East Villiage | 113 St Marks Pl For Please Don't Tell, use the faux phone booth | Gourmet Hot Dogs! | $ | Open late into the night. A really fun and busy spot. Must see. Please Don't Tell is the speakeasy next door. Go to the phone booth and follow the instructions to see if there's room. They have more gourmet hot dogs, great drinks and an awesome atmosphere. |
Takashi | Greenwich Villiage | 456 Hudson St | Asian BBQ (Japanese yakiniku) | $$ | Grill your own dinner, using rare (and delicious) cuts of meat. Make a reservation - it's tiny, popular and fills up fast |
Caffe Roma | Little Italy | 385 Broome St Suite A | Cafe/Bakery | $ | Cute little Italian cafe that I walked into when I wanted an espresso. Looks like it's been there forever and used to be a mob hangout. Tables are wobbly, but espresso was great. The tiramisu was a little sloppy, but definitely home made. They make fresh gelato too! |
Bryant Park Grill | Midtown | Bryant Park (5th Ave and E 40th St) | $$ | Food is good, but not exceptional - you're going for the view and atmosphere. Still, worth checking out the patio on a nice day. | |
Shake Shack | Midtown (various around the city) | Grand Central Station (various around the city) | Retro diner-style hamburgers and shakes | $$ | Messy but delicious. |
La Maison Du Chocolat | Wall Street | 63 Wall St #4 | Chocolatier | $$$ | Really good chocolate, but really expensive. A nice treat if you're checking out Wall Street. |
